VICTOR STEINBRUECK PARK IMPROVEMENTS
Originally designed by Richard Haag and Victor Steinbrueck, Victor Steinbrueck Park is one of the most recognized and loved parks in the city. The 2008 Pro Parks Levy identified numerous improvements necessary to maintain this iconic space. The design for landscape improvements will preserve the park’s original structure and character while achieving the goals of the Parks Levy which was to improve safety and accessibility. Replacement of the waterproofing membrane, above the parking structure below, is requiring full removal and replacement of all park elements. The team engaged in a extensive public process to assure the space remains democratic and social equity is maintained. Completed by Chris Jones, as Principal at Walker Macy, prior to founding Groundswell.
