PORT OF BELLINGHAM MARINE STRUCTURES FEASIBILILTY STUDY
The Port of Bellingham has been exploring full or partial removal of the 1,240-foot-long GP Wharf along the shoreline of the Whatcom Waterway to construct a purpose-built visitor moorage project and potentially expand marine related industries within the Waterfront District. Part of the City and Port’s Waterfront District Subarea Plan includes the Marine Trades area as an area of unique character characterized by a working waterfront that will support water dependent uses and accommodate jobs revolving around marine trades such as fishing, boat building and repair, marine haul out facilities, marine product manufacturing and supplies. In partnership with Anchor QEA, Groundswell assisted in identifying opportunities, constraints, siting for future marine trades, marine habitat enhancements and transportation circulation.
