OREGON STATE HOSPITAL - JUNCTION CITY
The Oregon State Hospital in Junction City facility embodies the new Treatment Mall model approach to patient care in which patients reside in ‘houses’ grouped in ‘neighborhoods’ with central ‘downtown’ spaces for dining, socialization and recreation. The facility’s goal was to depart from the traditional institutional model and be more hospitality-based, while still maintaining a high level of safety and security. A variety of recreational spaces and courtyards were designed to support specific patient, security and clinical needs. Our efforts also included site planning, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, stormwater management and parking layout.
